Welcome to The Point

Tobago has many unique features;  Its rainforest, its people and its culture, even its place in the development of the New World. However the most visible natural aspect of this island would arguably be its coral reef, the Nylon Pool and famous beaches all down at Pigeon Point.

There is much more to the area however. The Marine Park is about 125 acres, more than half of which is the wetlands to the south and south-east. The usable land stretches from Windhole in the North and curves to the south-west, where the entrance gate is located.

Before accessing the Heritage Park, visitors will see several souvenir and other handicraft vendors as well as watersport operators who ply their trade to those in the area.
Fisherfolk as well, use some of the beaches of the Park, mostly to the southwest or what they call the Swallows. Others use Windhole to the north to land their daily catch. Red snapper, grouper, mackerel, flying fish, and shark, form the bulk of the fisheries.

The road to access Pigeon Point has been paved in recent times, but for all of its past it was merely a coral strewn dirt track. Today green verges overshadowed by coconut palms guide visitors to the main area where modern amenities await those who would spend an idyllic day lounging on pink sunwashed sands.

wooden jetty at Pigeon Point

Pigeon Point Tobago is best characterised by the wooden jetty dominating calm aquamarine water, an image which has been on literally thousands of publications worldwide over the last four decades..

The Pigeon Point Park facility itself has three beach restaurants selling typical fast foods as well as local creole dishes. Several shops offer the beach-goer a range of kit. There are sunblock lotions, tanning oils, sunburn cream, colored sarongs, bikinis, indeed all of the things a person hard at work attending to the business of relaxation needs.
